The TikTok trend that took the world by storm, whipped coffee. It’s fluffy and frothy goodness is both aesthetically pleasing and wonderful tasting. The best part? With how simple the recipe is (just milk, coffee, sugar and hot water) you can make it from the comfort of your own home.Here is to saving money in 2022 and making your morning coffee at home!

What is Whipped Coffee?

While it might have skyrocketed to fame from Tiktok last year, whipped coffee has been around for well over two decades by another name, Dalgona Coffee.Dalgona Coffee is credited to Leong Kam Hon but was popularized by South Korean actor Jung Il-woo in early 2020. Earning its name because of its similar taste to dalgona, the Korean honeycomb toffee (this toffee itself has also recently also gained popularity from the South Korean TV drama Squid Game).Some recipe’s recommend you try to replicate with instant coffee mix while others recommend with an espresso mix. The Warm Cup Whipped Coffee

Why I love this recipe

Now to the reason why you are here, the recipes! If you are new to making whipped coffee’s this is a low-effort maximum-reward recipe for the coffee novice.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 tablespoons of espresso or instant coffee (if instant also add 2 tablespoons of hot water)
  • 2 tablespoons of the granulated sugar of your choosing
  • 2 tablespoons of milk (whole milk, almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk, etc.)
  • 1/2 cup of hot water

You will also need

GROSCHE E-Z LATTE Milk Frother Red

Instructions

  1. Brew espresso as you normally would (for tips and tricks on this check out our previous article on how to make stovetop espresso at home). If you are using instant coffee skip this step.
  2. Next, combine espresso (or instant coffee), sugar and milk into a cup. Whisk together using an E-Z frother for a couple of minutes until soft peaks form. This may take a couple of minutes so patients is key! If foam isn’t developing let espresso cool for a couple of minutes and try again.
  3. Once soft peaks have formed add hot water and stir until desired combination has reached.
  4. Enjoy your delicious whipped coffee!

The Cold Cup Whipped Coffee

Why I love this recipe

So you are not a hot coffee lover, may be cold coffee is more your style. This cold whipped coffee recipe is for the iced coffee lovers who want to take their cold coffee game to a new level! It’s recipe is very similar to the Warm Cup.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 tablespoon of espresso or instant coffee (if instant also add 2 tablespoons of hot water)
  • 2 tablespoons of the granulated sugar of your choosing
  • 1/2 cup of milk (whole milk, almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk, etc.)
  • 1 cup of iced cubes

You will also need

double walled glass mug, borosilicate durable glass cup, insulated glass mug, large mug for coffee or tea, grosche cyprus big cup

Instructions

  1. Brew espresso as you normally would (for tips and tricks on this check out our previous article on how to make stovetop espresso at home). If you are using instant coffee mix disregard this step.
  2. Combine espresso (or instant coffee), milk into a cup with sugar. Whisk together using an E-Z Frother for a couple of minutes until soft peaks form. This may take a couple of minutes so patients is key!
  3. You can froth the milk for this recipe using the E-Z Frother and the same instructions above or you can step up your frothing game by using a French press. To froth with a French press pour cold milk into French press and slowly move the plunger from the top of where the milk reaches the carafe to the bottom. Continue this process until milk has doubled in size or until desired consistency.
  4. Finally, pour whipped coffee into glass with ice and top with frothed milk. Stir until the two are blended.
  5. Enjoy your fantastic frothy coffee!
