I purchased this smaller stainless steel kettle because it's lightweight and can be used both at home and while camping. It seems well-built, with a longer spout for better pour control, which helps keep hot steam away. However, the extended spout takes up more space when storing or transporting the kettle. I'll see how convenient it is for travel.According to the instructions, you can only boil 700ml in it, and only on low or medium heat, which is just 2/3 of the kettle's total capacity. This was surprising. The first time I boiled 700ml as recommended, I noticed a rattling sound during heating, which some might call a whistle but to be clear, this kettle does not whistle. It also doesn't have a thermometer, which is often included in this type of kettle, usually in the lid handle. The product description is inaccurate in that regard. While the lack of a thermometer might be seen as a downside, it could also mean fewer parts to break over time. I found that my portable thermometer fits perfectly through the steam opening in the lid, allowing me to check the water temperature when boiling for coffee or tea. However, this might not be convenient for everyone.Despite the instructions, I was able to boil 900 ml of water on high heat, as long as I kept the handle away from the flame. It took about 10 minutes on my smallest gas burner. For comparison, my electric kettle boils twice as much water in half the time, though it doesn't have a long spout. While boiling, no water spilled, and the rattling sound I noticed with a smaller amount of water did not occur. The plastic handle and lid handle remained cool to the touch, but be cautious not to touch the lid near the air vent where the steam escapes. I would have preferred wood handles, as plastic is not eco-friendly. The lid doesn't latch securely, so it needs to be held in place when pouring the last bit of water to prevent it from falling off.One major quality control issue is that the handle is crooked, which is noticeable upon close inspection. Still, the kettle functions as it should, and I appreciate that the company supports a good cause by helping those in need.
