Matcha green tea powder is a millennium old tradition, consumed by the Chinese Taoists and Japanese Zen Buddhist monks to relax and meditate whilst remaining alert. Use a Matcha Perfect Teaspoon to add one spoonful to the matcha bowl. Boil 8-10 ounces of water and let stand for 3-5 minutes off the heat to reduce to 80 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, use the matcha whisk to break down any tiny lumps in the powder until it is very smooth. When the temperature of the water has cooled, pour half the amount; or 4 ounces into the matcha bowl. Begin to whisk immediately using brush-like strokes. The matcha should start to froth at the top. Add the rest of the water to the bowl and proceed to whisk once more until blended; approximately 30 seconds. Pour matcha into a cup of your choice and enjoy.
To enjoy iced matcha, simply prepare the matcha as indicated above using only four ounces of water. Fill a cup or mug with ice, and then pour prepared matcha over the ice. Stir well and add more ice if needed.
