March 22nd marks World Water Day! A day dedicated to understanding the importance of safe water and taking action for water around the world.
Water seems like a simple necessity to many who live in communities with robust systems and can just drink from the tap, but do you know how many people don’t have access to safe drinking water?
According to the World Health Organization, 785 million people around the world lack access to a safe drinking water service and at least 2 billion people use a drinking water source contaminated with faeces.
Limited access to safe water is a global problem that GROSCHE International is striving to fix.
How We're Making a Difference
With your help, GROSCHE is helping alleviate the safe water crisis around the world.
Since the beginning, our company has been tied with our Safe Water Project initiative, meaning for every GROSCHE purchase made we fund 50+ days of safe drinking water to communities in need across six different underdeveloped countries.
By choosing us, you choose coffee, tea and hydration products with purpose. Together, we’ve supplied over 121 million days of safe drinking water to families in need.
Today, we’re making an impact in six different countries:
- South Sudan
- Uganda
- Malawi
- India
- Pakistan
- The Philippines
You can be apart of a global difference by purchasing any GROSCHE product. We sell premium coffee, tea and hydration products, as well as organic coffee and loose-leaf tea.
How Our Safe Water Project Works
We supply safe drinking water to communities in need through the use of Biosand filters. These filters are an adaptation of slow sand filters and are a simple type of water cleaning technology.
Countries who lack the infrastructure to support a water system truly benefit from Biosand filters because they’re easy to build and maintain.
They can last up to 30 years and remove the following from dirty water:
World Water Day 2020
According to Global Waters, the 2020 theme for this year’s World Water Day is “Water and Climate Change”.
In the face of changing climate conditions worldwide, it’s important to understand the lack of water security around the world and to increase sustainable solutions.
Our Biosand filters are a sustainable solution for warmer climate countries because they do not require any electricity or fuels in order to run. They are a self-sufficient system for providing safe drinking water to families and communities.
Sand filters have been around since the early 1800s, and today, they supply safe water for roughly 500,000 people around the world.
