This French Vanilla Puerh Tea (also written as Pu Erh – Pu er tea – puer – Puerh – Pu’erh – pu er) brings the natural vanilla softness to a earthy and rooty Puerh to give you a delicious way to brew Puerh. Puerh is known to have a very earthy flavor. It is one that is a bit of an acquired taste for many people. The combination of natural vanilla essence and white chocolate gives it those hints of softness that complement the Puerh flavours and naturally round it off. Adding a touch of coffee is just genius. This is one of our favourite flavoured Puerh Teas.
What is Puerh tea?
Puerh is made from the same plant as other teas like green tea, black tea, and oolong and also contains caffeine. But the difference is that this is a post-fermented tea that gives a very unique flavour. Even though oolong and black teas are also fermented, Puerh tea is still special! The difference is the aging process that happens after the fermentation process. It is often stored in the form of cakes for several years to even prolong the aging process. The ageing and fermentation give it a very earthy flavor that some describe as rusty or musty. In addition, in Asia this is a tea that is commonly given as a medicinal tea with traditional Chinese medicine.
What are Puerh tea benefits?
Like many other teas, Puerh has been shown to contain antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Also, it is said to aid with digestion, stress relief, and weight loss. In Chinese medicine it is often given to people suffering from high cholestrol.
French Vanilla Puerh Tea ingredients
Like all our other teas, this French Vanilla Pu erh tea is all natural and does not contain any artificial flavours, colours, or preservatives. Just quality ingredients, the way all teas should be. The Puerh base tea in this blend is from Yunan province, in China. We have added natural vanilla essence, coffee and white chocolate. Ooh la la!
How to brew Puerh tea?
Add 1-2 teaspoons of this tea for a 10 to 12 oz mug. Water should be near boiling, or about a minute off boil. Then steep it for 5-6 minutes for an ideal brew. Puerh does steep a little longer than many teas. A tea press like the GROSCHE Boston tea press works very well for this type of tea. The clear glass allows you to see your tea take color. You can also make this into an iced brewed tea. Just brew it hot with 1/3rd the water amount, making a concentrate. Then pour the hot concentrate over ice to lock in the goodness and make your iced tea.
