A fruity papaya tea with a green tea base and tropical notes
The Papaya Passion from GROSCHE is a delightful papaya tea. It’s a blend of Japanese Sencha green tea, papaya pieces, sunflower petals and natural passion fruit flavours. This tropical infusion is naturally sweet and great on it’s own or with some honey. The beautiful, unrolled green Sencha leaf resembles pine needles. You can use this tea for 2 or 3 infusions.
What is Japanese Sencha green tea?
The Hunan Province in China produces some excellent Sencha green teas. Early in the new season the tea is a bright emerald green. It has the best flavor noted by a spring fresh character with pungency and body. People in Japan often use Sencha green tea for tea ceremonies that mark events of personal importance. Sencha tea is produced by steaming freshly plucked green leaf. In the next step, the leafs get rubbed either by machine or by hand for the needle-like tea leaf structure. The rubbed leaf is then pan fried or basket fired. As a result, Sencha has a distinctive glossy, almost waxy, appearance.
Health benefits of green tea
Green tea has numerous health benefits as it is very high in antioxidants. Green tea has been suggested to help with various cancers and protect against dementia and Alzheimer’s. It can also help to improve cholesterol levels.
How to brew green tea
The key thing to pay attention to when making green tea is the water temperature. Be sure to avoid pouring boiling water over your green tea. Boiling water can scorch the delicate leaves of a green tea. It can also over extract the tannins in the leaf and make it bitter. Since this is a full leaf tea, you will want a teapot that has ample room for the tea leaves to expand and unfold. That will release the full pecan pastry flavour. Try a glass teapot like the Munich or a smart tea maker like the Aberdeen.
